If removing the package is the alternative, then get the complete new
version through the SRU process is better. Regarding the SRU process:
The version in one release must be lower that the version in the next
release. Therefore if you want 0.9.4+r1394 in lucid, you also have to
port it to maverick

regarding the SRU: sorry for using the wrong term. the problem is that
there is no single patch/commit that could be ported and we don't have
the resources to look at 400 commits to find all corner cases and port
them. maybe it would be easier to just remove the package from lu
For bug fixes you should cherry-pick the fixes from your release and
follow the SRU process [1]. Backports are not designed for bug fixes,
but for new upstream release that introduce new features.
