Sorry for the extremely delayed response. Unfortunately the 18 month
support period for Edgy Eft 6.10 has reached it's end of life. As a
result, we are closing the linux-source-2.6.17 Edgy Eft kernel task.
However, Hardy Heron 8.04 was recently released. It would be helpful if
you could
I am running a C2D 2.0Ghz. The battery life seems to be about the same
for me in Feisty (2.6.20-generic kernel). I haven't sat down and done
exact time tests, but they seem comparable in battery life.
Heat is also not any higher that I can tell.
Any other details I can offer let me know.

I am using a new(er) Macbook Core Duo at 2.0Ghz. I have the same issue.
I am running Edgy Eft and the frequency scaling does not appear to be
working. When idle, the unit runs noticably hotter than OS X and the
battery life is about half of what it is when running OS X 10.4.8.

I forgot to mention that while the laptop is in sleep mode, I can hear
the HD working off and on. This might be related.
