You've likely installed different packages from the standard
installation and official updates. Could you write here which version of
network-manager-gnome you're running (apt-cache policy network-manager-
gnome can tell you) and on which version of Ubuntu?

Thanks for the information! The nm-applet does not show up in the
indicator applet. When I start a gnome-panel while in unity and add the
old notification area and indicator-applet ('Indicator Applet Complete')
to it, and then restart nm-applet, it does show up in the old
notification area, but not
I believe it's very likely not what makes nm-applet not show up in your
case. I've been testing against a recent dbusmenu and do get the error,
although nm-applet shows in all possible scenarios (unity, gnome-panel
w/ indicator, gnome-panel w/notification area). Please make sure you
