changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem
may have been fixed
Ok I may have spoken too soon, desktop effects are too slow to be
useable now - the spinning cube shows one frame of movement between
desktops, compared to a smooth rendition on lucid.

I just posted this bug because I was on the verge of moving back to
10.04, and felt that I should at least post a bug report before doing
so. However, I went on a bit of a wild-goose chase and came across this
