I followed your procedure. When I minimize an update manager and click to open a new one it just maximizes the minimized one. Seems to be the correct behavior. Do any other applications you have act the same way? Synaptic package manager for example? -- update-manager: does not deiconify when

iconified is the KDE term for minimized, sorry for any confusion. To reproduce - 1) start update-manager 2) minimize its main window 3) start a second instance of update-manager The second instance will exit immediately, without asking the first one to restore its window to a normal or maximized
