I have Lucid (10.04 LTS) and I confirm the problem. I can precisely describe the hardware in question, it is a PCI Express USB 3 card by manufacturer Delock. It uses the VIA VLI 800 chipset. Hard disks in USB-3-to-SATA adapters are only detected upon boot time. Rarely a plug&pray detection works,
