Andrew Linux, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been
any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an

This weekend was starting to work on an old p4s800 machine that I was given.
I saw two issues one was have issues with the network card responding

Why do we think this is a duplicate of 528720? For most of the folks on
that issue its seems purging irqbalance fixes their issue, whereas most
of the folks here say it does not.

I checked the duplicate bug threads. I tried the irqbalance fixes that
were suggested (changing the .conf file and finally purging irqbalance)
and they did not work. I am still getting freezes.

The issue sounds like the problem on my notebook Dell D830 with a docking
station. I installed a fresh Ubuntu 10.04 four weeks ago. Before I used Ubuntu

If freezing does not appear after you start Ubuntu in recovery mode and
type "gdm" - try to remove "irqbalance" (sudo aptitude purge
irqbalance). This solution helped me.
