The problem with the proposed approach (using sun-java*) is that there
is *no* such package for lucid. To be honest, I understand that debian
is for 'open source' software, and their support for application not
matching *their* definition of 'open source' has always been flacky.
However, I can't i
Debian have declared java-package to be obsolete, so this bug is
unlikely to ever be fixed. http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-
bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=577423 refers. Please use the sun-java6-* package
family instead.
