i found an easier solution, with this one you can keep the gutenprint
5.2.5, to solve the problem the only that is needed is to change the
printer driver to epson stylus c66.

I found out why the problem was not being solved for me. The issue was that
after installing the older gutenprint packages, I was changing my software
sources
back to lucid. Probably the driver being installed was the lucid one (I think).

This hasn't worked for me. Here I send you screenshots of the exact sequence

I fixed the problem unistalling the gutenprint 5.2.5 files, and downloading
gutenprint 5.2.4 files from http://packages.ubuntu.com/karmic/text/,
i downloaded this files:

I've updated to the proposed repo, but still can not print.
Then I tried to install Turboprint (trial version) ... amazing, the
printer can print. But there is a strange thing, when I try to use the

My Epson Printer T20E also can not be used in Lucid, whereas in ubuntu 9.xx
can run normally.
The printer is detected as the T20E and drivers used are T20. But strangely,
when lsusb detected as Epson D88 +
