I have just started having this same problem on 10.04. The problem began
occurring after installing the ATI drivers with jockey. I have an AMD64.
I updated the policy kit, but the problem persists. So far I have only
seen it happen with software center. Other authentications appear to be

I've had this happen to me since 10.04, on most all the machines I've
installed it on, and it still happens to me, randomly it seems, in
10.10. I'm currtently typing this on a Toshiba T235D laptop, Ubuntu
10.10 64bit desktop, installed using wubi, but also happens on my other
machines that are not

In response to the fglrx packages; I dont have fglrx, instead I have the
modalaises version (fglrx-modaliases).
I am experiencing the same issue as posted except on Ubuntu 10.10 x64 on my AMD
machine with a Nvidia 6150SE nforce430 with the Nvidia current driver.

Are you talking about the graphics card? If so, it is integrated on an
ECS RS482 motherboard using ATI Radeon Xpress 200G. I think I have the
