The same problem occurs with my T24. It was working on Karmic but in
Lucid the printer led starts blinking but the page is not printed out.
Tried to reinstall cups, installed the newer version of proposed
packages and still don't work

OK, a few things here:
1) AL-CX11 *NEVER* *EVER* worked out-of-the-box, for me. In each and every
Ubuntu version starting from 7.04, I think, up to 10.04.
2) Yes, it requires the driver from avasys.jp (see

Till, I'm sure I haven't uninstalled it, perhaps it is installed on a
clean install of 10.04. I booted up 8.04 and then used the 10.04 cd to
update to 10.04.

Felix, cups-driver-gutenprint is usally installed by default, but one
can uninstall it and then updates will not reinstall the package.. So as
long as your printer is working now your problem is solved.

I'm not sure this went as intended.
I removed all the files from the print queue ( does this remove it? ) but this
had no effect on the file /etc/cups/ppd/Stylus-D92.ppd
I then printed a job which went into the queue but didn't print ( as before ).
The file you wanted was still unchanged. Th
Felix, thw PDF,ppd is not important for this bug, the needed one is the
other.
The other PPD is of a very old Gutenprint version. Somehow Gutenprint
does not auto-update it. So please remove your print queue and recreate
it, then you should get the correct PPD file.

I've got an Epson Stylus D92, similar symptoms - prints nothing all. The
print jobs all go to the queue, whatever the job,
I attached now the error log obtained from the troubleshooting of the
system-config-printer.
The only reported I could find is like this, and appears many times:

AcuLaser ones (apart from the PS ones) and all of the AL ones. In each
instance I only tried the "recommended" one. They all had the same
effect except one - the C2000 which you recommended. That behaved

Till, unfortunately I cannot tell you anything about the behaviour under
Karmic because... (he said hiding his blushing face) I am a TOTAL noob
to Linux, let alone Ubuntu. This time last week I hadn't even heard of
the word Ubuntu but fortuitously and accidentally stumbled across Lucid
Till, unfortunately it sounds a lot more skin to this bug than the other
two. In fact, it sounds almost identical to the issue I'm having, with
the sole exception that I reconnect to the printer directly through USB
(which seems mildly irrelevant at this point). I've already posted on

is bug 468701 or bug 539708. The latter has a proposed fix. Try this one

Matt, now I found it: It seems that your printer is not a PostScript
printer but system-config-printer has assigned the PPD file for its
bigger Brother (which is a PostScript printer) to it.
This printer is not supported by the standard Ubuntu installation. You
need to get the Epson driver as desc

Follow Martin Pitt's instructions of comment #4, but where he says
"print something", print 5 files from different applications and after
each file wait until the job completes ("lpstat -o" does not have any
output). When having finished the 5 jobs, attach your
/var/log/cups/error_log file to this
The printouts are working (see attached for one), but I don't know where
to access error logs.

I have installed Lucid final release (alternante install) and with clean
install. My Epson T20E printer is detected as usual (with a T20 driver) but
when used to print there is no any output on the printer.
in Karmic everything goes smoothly.
Note: My printer is connected directly to a USB cable
