I doubt this is the same bug. Different hardware and different symptoms. My
freezes happened consistently on the same spot during boot. Changing to
failsafe X fixed this in Ubuntu kernel.
Haven't had time to retest using a later kernel though, seems like there's
always something I can't abort ru

It seems that applying th mainline kernel DOES NOT SOLVE the case - the
freezes are less frequent though. It might me a kernel issue -
As indicated in comment #2 the mainline kernel has been tested and the
bug is not present in the mainline kernel.

If you could also please test the latest upstream kernel available that would
be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue.
Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the
upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upst

The computer completely freezes after disk check and neither ctrl+alt+delete
nor alt sysrq + reisub works.
- If selecting recovery mode then failsafe x I can boot and things work as
normal. Will investigate further
