The 10.04 system that was installed in the second try (now on Ext4)
doesn't boot any more, see

I have no ideas if that is connected to the first problem. I'll do a new

An additional test with the very same cd that I used for the first try,
I did not encounter the problem again! It was another pc, but very
similar conditions. My guess about ReiserFS not being supported was
obviously wrong.
Unfortunately I don't understand what went wrong. I don't want to
perform

I just tried to reproduce this with a current daily build (albeit server
on i386 because that's what I had handy, but I don't think it should
matter), and everything seemed to work fine with reiserfs on /.
Although I'm not specifically aware of having fixed this problem, it's
possible that we fixed
