An additional test with the very same cd that I used for the first try, I did not encounter the problem again! It was another pc, but very similar conditions. My guess about ReiserFS not being supported was obviously wrong.
Unfortunately I don't understand what went wrong. I don't want to perform the procedure again on the pc from the first try, because that one is cleanly installed now (with Ext4) and doesn't have an empty partition left. If I should get additional information, I'll post it here.
