I can confirm now that the crash happens not only when I close a window, but also when I close a tab in Firefox. This has happened to me at least twice. The system freezes (the mouse does move, but with delays) and the log files start growing very quickly. shift-alt-sysrq-k immediately logs me out

I have exactly the same problem. It happens to me several times a day. If I quickly press shift-alt-sysrq-k, I am logged out. I can then login again and everything is fine, except that the files /var/log/Xorg.0.log.old and /var/log/gdm/:0.log.1 are several hundred MB long, filled with lines like th

Can I supply more information? This bug is really very annoying because it crashes my X regularly (about once per day). Yesterday I didn't reboot immediately and it wrote my root partition full with 8 GB of logs ("Freeing resource id=... which isn't there."). I don't think this bug is unconfirm
