The Ubuntu Kernel Team is planning to move to the 2.6.27 kernel for the
upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release. As a result, the kernel team would
appreciate it if you could please test this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel.

The module for the device should already be loaded as root is mounted on
a drive on that SATA controler (and the drives work fine if they are
plugged in at boot). BUT, even if the drives are plugged in at boot,
UDEV still doesn't react if I unplug or plug one back/in (obviously not
the root one as
This means it's a kernel problem ... udev isn't receiving any events
from the kernel for this insertion, not even a bus-level event so it can
load the right modules for the device

I ran "sudo udevmonitor -e" in one terminal and "tail -f
/var/log/messages" in another. The output of udevmonitor was:

udevmonitor prints the received event from the kernel [UEVENT]
and the event which udev sends out after rule processing [UDEV]

Please run "sudo udevmonitor -e" and plug in the SATA drive, provide the
output.
