Geir I am now using 2.6.34-rc3 mainline kernel. Regarding the need to ssh into the locked-up system in order to get the logs: 1: Do you mean to ssh into the locked up system from another computer on the network? If you mean something else (ssh localhost??) please say. I am just running one laptop

It turns out that on 965GM the GPU gets reset before the dump of the error is recorded, so the information that is attached does not useful. By using the newest drm-intel-next kernel from http://kernel.ubuntu.com /~kernel-ppa/mainline/drm-intel-next/ the error information should be recorded in i915
