My initial report was for Feisty. Since my report I haven't used the
xemacs-gnome-nomule package (I used the xemacs-mule package which didn't
have this problem). I just installed the gnome-nomule package and

Wanted to confirm this bug. When xemacs is executed from the terminal to
open a file the file is opened, but the scratch buffer is shown.
I've only tried this on the xemacs-gnome-nomule package (21.4.19)
The proposed solution also work, if you don't want to switch buffers
each time you open a fil
I've noticed this problem occurs in Edgy with XEmacs21-gnome-nomule but not
with XEmacs21-nomule.
(I haven't tried the mule versions)
A simple work around is to add the following line to
your startup file :
(bury-buffer "*scratch*")
