Fabian, in general, you can look at the ubuntu trees of Ben and myself
on http://www.kernel.org/git/. In this case, Daniel had sent the patch
to the kernel-team mailing list, but I dropped the ball getting it into
the tree because I thought it had been mailed earlier along with some
other changes.
Could you try with an Ubuntu 7.04 Herd 2 Live CD ?
Daniel, it's been ~months since that code update. How can I found out
where/when it's been committed ?

I have found a solution for the sound.
If you pass acpi=off in Grub, sound is Ok with Alsa 1.0.11.
I'm happy to heard music with this very good laptop ! (ACPI for a laptop is
essentiel but for me, not vital)
Anyway, if you want to watch evolution of Alsa's bug, it's here :

Same Laptop... Same problem.
Tried to compile ALSA 1.0.11 and 1.0.12-rc1 : Still no sound at all.
After reading ALSA bug reports/linux.kernel archives on ALSA+Conexant
subjects, it's not obvious we'll have a solution soon.
Reason: "Conexant does not give hardware informations" (these are also
the
Same problem on Toshiba Satellite p100-197.
