Same Laptop... Same problem.
Tried to compile ALSA 1.0.11 and 1.0.12-rc1 : Still no sound at all.

After reading ALSA bug reports/linux.kernel archives on ALSA+Conexant
subjects, it's not obvious we'll have a solution soon.

Reason: "Conexant does not give hardware informations" (these are also
the ones that already did the same stupid job with winmodems), dixit
alsa coders...

So, the only possible action would be to boycott any product that
include Conexant devices. Too late for me but for the future it's now no
more Toshiba products as they also dit not respond to my demands: I live
in france and as well as in whole europe, manufacturers are compeled by
law to give any needed technical informations if users request some (see
huge fine Microsoft just got from europpean commission for the same
reason: Not enough technical informations to coders of concurrent
software...).

I asked Toshiba france for that... says they do not provide support to
this level. Responded they must do so for products they sell in france
=> No more response and not willing to pay a lawyer for that. But maybe
some kind of class-action, at the moment impossible in france but under
discution, could help in the future.

Not really customer friendly anyway... and quite impossible to
understa,d the reasons for that from Conexant/Toshiba...

Anyway, if someone have tips to have a minimal sound system working with
the generic codec alsa uses for this unsupported device?

Regards.
