In Kubuntu-KDE4 Hardy Beta is even worse: after clean install if you
launch systemsettings it tells you that numlock is turned on by default
which is not the case. Maybe Kubuntu's default settings somehow
interfere with KDE's defaults?

The problem shows up in Gutsy & Hardy too. It seems that after a clean
install in System Settings the delay value for keyboard repeat differs
from the actual value. In System Settings it's 660 ms, Kubuntu's default
is about ~300 ms (I don't know the exact value). When you change another

Am I correct in saying that by changing the KDE setting that turns the
numlock LED on causes the keyboard repeat to be delayed?
I'm not sure exactly what other information would be necessary. I guess

I tested the issue on Edgy and can reproduce problem. Now it seems like
there is an initial delay, and after that initial delay it repeats
normally. This was once again caused just by setting Num Lock to be on
when KDE starts.
What information / commands would you like for me to supply? I was
