I finally found the reason the the freeze!
The kernel stops after he initialized the USB devices. I have disabled
USB in the bios and the edgy Installer is finally working.
Are there any USB patches in the installer kernel that may cause this behaviour?
I never had problems with other kernels bef
I just tried to install edgy knot 3 on the system above and it still freezey,
when I try to boot from CD.
The boot menu appears, I can select a boot mode (tested normal and safe mode)
and then the kernel gets unpacked and the boot progressbar appears (+ubuntu
logo) and the system freezes.

I tried to install Edgy on the same computer 3 days ago with the current edy CD
image and I got the same problem.
I don't understand why the Debian installer are working on this machine and the
ubuntu installer freezes :-/
