Things work fine with the Nvidia card.
Can not test further with the original video card (Matrox) - the machine
is now in constant use, can not risk downtime due to any hardware
changes.

Tested with a few release candidates of Edgy. Slightly different
behavior.
First, I get the random glitch when installing, bug #27227
