I took that screen shot under lucid sorry I should have added that
too.For me its still boxes for native and correct font with wine..

For whatever reason it looks differently wrong now for me under Lucid.
It shows in the regular cell area the same characters as it shows for
you in the formula edit area (which is the same on both sides of you
last screenshot).

Today I found out windows version under wine recognizes fonts
correctly.Im attaching a screen shot of same doc. opened ubuntu native
oocalc and with wine.Left one is native.Rigt side one is windows ver.
with wine.Wine one shows correct fonts.

Sorry for giving the wrong impression.It was my mistake to select a
section typed in lklug.ttf (linux installs that as local keyboard)I
installed that font in windows And windows show boxes for that font in
the same manner ooo shows for Slida.ttf.Hope below attached image and
ttf would help.

the formula input area, all boxes on MS Office and displays properly in
OOo. I'm not sure what is wrong but it might be something wrong with the
font considering both MS Office and OOo display boxes instead of
characters in areas
