I have the same problem on Toshiba m45 s165.
All USB ports stop responding, before that USB ports works in 1.1 mode, not
2.0(2.0 works in Windows).

It was in Edgy and the machine is still running Edgy, kept up to date. I
haven't been using USB with it since it sits in a corner running as a server
at the moment, but when I get some spare time I'll give it a couple of days
of run time with some USB stuff.
