Yes I was able to complete the upgrade and it appears to working w/o any
problems so far...time will tell. I like the look and feel of this version.

It appears this problem was caused by the debconf GNOME frontend and
perl being in an inconsistent state during the upgrade. As libpam0g
correctly declares a dependency on debconf, this is a fault in the
debconf packag
