Guys,
sorry I forgot to notify all the related bugs:
this has been fixed when Tiny merged my branch in revision #1870 ( id
h...@tinyerp.com-20091105063915-kju1oce56t9g20g5 ) of openobject-server 5.0
branch. Trunk also already has the fix.
5.0 head now works out of the box like a charm on last
For what it's worth, I would also like to see that dependency on xml.xpath move
away. I'm not an integrator and I'm not good with Python either, but I still
think that if a library is deprecated, it doesn't make sense to depend on it.
Plus OpenERP should just be an apt-get away instead of taking
I couldn't explain better, Raphaël. ;-) Integrators can't depend on the
latest "stable" version yet. Hope we can make that some day.

Hello Alan,
I think you missed my point. I don't want to run old 5.0.0, I just want
to be able to run any 5.0.x last release or branch revision without
Ubuntu folks to need to elaborate patches on their own. Just like any
integrator, I'm working with head 5.0 revision and actively testing it

hmm, things have moved on, Karmic now uses Version 5.0.5-1 which is
synced from Debian without my dubious backported patch (it doesn't need
it). I don't quite get the point of running 5.0.0 on Karmic and
backporting just this bit. Why not run OpenERP 5.0.5? Alternatively if
you really want to run 5
Hello, please consider the back port I carefully elaborated from trunk

Hello Lionel,
Actually this is more about REMOVING an old deprecated python XML
dependency and replacing it by a a very standard one that is still
supported rather than ADDING something risky.
No problem with Hardy LTS at all, if you look at the patch, it's using etree
from lxml, which is standa
I meant "and then proposed for inclusion" - sorry.

Is it such a great idea to add a new dependency for the stable release ?
Will it still work on hardy LTS ?
Will it not break the server for those who have no problem and pull from the
bzr ?
Is it worth the risk when karmic is not even an LTS ?
Can't this be done as a debdiff in a PPA and the porpo
Hello,
I confirm, I just upgraded to Ubuntu Karmic and 5.0 branch of OpenERP stopped
working?
Why the hell Tiny doesn't backport the pyxml work from trunk or from your
Ubuntu patch back into 5-0?
As an 2 years OpenERP integrator, I consider OpenERP is not yet mature
