For what it's worth, I would also like to see that dependency on xml.xpath move away. I'm not an integrator and I'm not good with Python either, but I still think that if a library is deprecated, it doesn't make sense to depend on it. Plus OpenERP should just be an apt-get away instead of taking me hours every time I want to try it out on a stable Ubuntu.
