Solve it by totally removing kde packages and qt packages. I did a purge
installation and I clean by hand the last files I have been able to found in
/etc and /usr/share reinstall everything and now it's working ok.
I hope that I have been unlucky and did an update a bad day.

I am using right now mandriva cooker, the equivalent of karmic for
mandriva, with the same version of KDE (4.2.96) and everything is
working fine. So it's seems that it's a kubuntu specific problem. I
sincerely hope that it will spread a lot so a little chance to be
corrected will exist.

At least the possibility to use KDE application gave me the oportunity to test
if the problem was linked to the graphical effect and so to a new bug in intel
driver but it doesn't seems. I remove the option so no more effect and the
desktop was unresponsive some second after the start. So this t

Is it a way to convince people to use gnome only?
