I installed the snapshot with the commands
./configure
make && make install
everything seemed to go ok. Sound and the microphone now work with no
model quirks needed
I have uploaded a new alsa-info.sh file

Please try a snapshot of alsa-driver
(http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/people/tiwai/snapshot/alsa-
driver-20090911.tar.bz2), and please remove the model quirk you're
using. If the internal mic doesn't function right away, please try
model=dell-s14.
Please reboot between all tests.

I have the same problem on a Dell Vostro 1520. Sound works fine, but the
internal mic isn't recognized. The codec is also IDT ID 76d5.

Also, for what it's worth, the internal microphone works just fine under
Vista...but I REALLY don't want to have to move back to Windows!

I've tried dell, 3stack, 5stack, and dell-3stack. Sound works fine with
all of them, but I also noticed that the codec is "IDT ID 76d5", which
doesn't exist in the documentation, so I'm guessing that they're
ignored. The external microphone works fine, and the webcam works
