I no longer have to unplug and replug the device for the X login screen,
For the other aspect of this bug you need to open a new bug report, because it
can depend from other packages.

though I will point out that once you log in, it's now being treated as
a bluetooth keyboard, which makes the initial configuration of it
somewhat unexpected and convoluted (having to pair it as a bluetooth
keyboard on the hos

With 8.04 I had to hotplug the usb dongle for my dinovo keyboard and
mouse one time at the beginning of every x session as the originator of
this bug report described. I upgraded to 9.04 then 9.10 and then
regressed to 9.04 which I am currently running. (I will reinstall 9.10
