Pascal : dpkg-reconfigure worked. So paper size is a global setting in
Ubuntu/gnome and can not be overridden?? Sounds very rigid and impractical. Off
topic : It did not change default paper size in Firefox...

Does printing to PDF (install cups-pdf, not export to PDF) for A4 format
work for you? That works for me, so I am not sure if this is actually an
openoffice.org bug or some sort of bug with cups or your printer.
