Thanks very much for your efforts and for letting me know the result.
I have not solved the problem and still do not really understand the
cause, but I have worked-around it by using the "ignore existing" option
for my photos, as I do not usually edit photos, and when I do I save
them under a diff
I had contact with the upstream developer, he said this is nog a grsync bug,
but a filesystem/rsync/user configuration problem
