Why do the programs exit when disconnected from X? There could be some in between but it may be difficult to implement. However, a jerky move between screens is better than total prevention of the move. Is there something that prevents this from being added? I'd work on writing the code if there is

Thanks, but that is due to the architecture of Xorg. The "client" applications connect to a server (one of your X displays). To move them between displays, you would have to disconnect the client from the first server, and reconnect it to the second server (no inbetween). Client applications will u
