This is fixed in jaunty, but I doubt there'll be an update to 8.10. You
could try backporting the package though.

I configured a Dell MD3000 using multipath. Everything looks good, but after
a reboot there is no
/dev/dm-* devices and the partitions do not show up in /dev/mapper. I have to
manually generate the /dev/dm-* devices with mknod
