I am *not* on Kubuntu 9.10--which is only in alpha--but in 9.04,
"Jaunty Jackalope." I will try it again and see if it now works--I've
been using Synaptic because it seems to have much more flexiblity.

With KPackageKit 0.4.1.1 in Kubuntu 9.10, switching to another category
and then back to "All Packages" works now. :)

I can see the exact same behavior here.
As described in the bug report:
"All Packages" simply doesn't do anything.
The list is empty when I first start kpackagekit and switching from another
category to "All Packages" leaves the list unchanged.
The other categories work.
