I have this same behaviour here. Sowngrade to amarok 1.3.9without success.
Does anybody knows how to make a decent back trace ? when I start the appin
Konsole it says to dont run gdb agianst it.
When I was using Breezy, it works like a charm, even with amarok 1.4.

Thx to the gstreamer people, who made 0.10 available and broke heavily
the API. Amarok upstream couldn't react on this breakage, which is not a
fault of Amarok, but gstreamer.

I am confirming this on Kubuntu Dapper, using KDE 3.5.3.
Since the update to Dapper, amarok-gstreamer is not available, and one
has to use amarok-xine. However, the Xine engine has several problems,
one of them being that it can not play some .wav files. This is, I
guess, a bug in all apps using X
