I guess rasman is right.. it should be something related to
hibernation.. it might not have saved the user's state properly.. or the
user(the reporter) might have done something wrong before hibernation..

Not that I know of (it's kindda now that I'm kicking myself for not
having something up)
Could this be something related to a hibernation, or combo
evolution/hibernation?
especially given the shutdown call...

Can't be sure it not a local one (hard drive?), I just find it highly
suspicious, especially how everything happened and the prior error
messages.
Attached is my xsession-error file as of today (didn't use that computer
since I realized data lost)...
