i found that i won't be able to install konsole and other packages
depended by the latest konsole in the jaunty repo. because the
dependency on libqt-core is fixed on a revision. anyway, hope the fix
can be backported to intrepid

installed it on my intrepid system (All dependencies are satisfied)
You are right, the fix was committed to the konsole path in the svn
(kdebase/apps/konsole/src/ViewContainer.cpp)

@Jesse - When you say you "tried installing the deb" does that mean that
you downloaded a debian package and tried to install it manually (on
intrepid?). I think you the issue stems from one of the dependent
packages (perhaps konsole).
Yakuake has the following dependencies:
kdebase-runtime
kdelib
@komputers I've tried installing the deb for jaunty on my intrepid box.
Doesn't seem to work as expected. The new terminal split on the right is
no longer gray, yet the display is still unrecognizable

I can confirm this with yakuake 2.9.3 running on intrepid.
according to the dpkg log it seems the yakuake binary hasn't upgraded in the
past 5 months. but the splitting function was broken since february, this is
very annoying.
is there any dependency problem?

I don't know about the grayout, but you can also split your current
shell by right clicking on "Shell" at the bottom and selecting your
option (as opposed starting a new shell).

reporter stated the same problem as we are experiencing but left a final

Wow, that is weird. I can confirm this. I think I have seen similar
issues with a KDE based terminal or konsole part in GNOME recently as
well.
