I switched to the final release of Jaunty a couple of days ago. Suspense
and sound both work normally now, though I did have to add "options snd-
hda-intel model=5stack" to "/etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf" in order for
the sound to work at all.

I finally got access to a CD burner over spring break, so I was able to
test Alpha 6. Unfortunately, under Jaunty, I wasn't able to get any
sound at all, and when I tried to resume from suspense, the screen
stayed black even after the computer sounded like it had come back to
life.

Sound fades
Hi Guys,
Care to test the latest pre-release of Jaunty 9.04 (currently Alpha4) -
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/jaunty/ . It contains an updated
2.6.28 based kernel. It would be good to know if this issue remains. You
should be able to test suspend via a LiveCD. Please let us know your

I have an E520 too, and I get a slow fadeout when I'm listening to my
speakers and plug in my headphones. Reloading alsa works tho, thanks
for that tip.

Actually, it appears that I can restore the sound a bit quicker by
logging out of my GNOME session, running "sudo alsa force-reload", and
logging back in. But this trick doesn't work if I put the command in a
"/etc/pm/sleep.d/" script that runs on resume, so it's not much of a
workaround.
