I have a similar problem.
I have upgraded to 8.10 (64 bit) which has worked fine for several weeks
however now what ever default program that is linked to the desktop
"Places" and then "Home folder, Desktop, Documents, etc becomes Eye of
GNOME Image Viewer.

I have the same problem here also, Just upgraded from 8.04 to 8.10
clicking on home folder, desktop , documents , music , pictures and videos

I incur the same bug (I think).
When I click on "Places" then on my home folder, billy lauches himself for few
seconds and crashes.
