I haven't this problem anymore with NM 0.7 anyway. So I mark this one as
fixed released. I'll reopen if I face this issue again and include more
dbug info. Thank you both for your concern !

I'd note only that I too was unable to restart or otherwise kill the
NetworkManager process, until I forced it by passing -9 instead of the
regular, graceful kill signal. Try a 'sudo killall -9 NetworkManager;
sudo /etc/dbus-1/events.d/25NetworkManager restart'

I see no reason to believe that this bug is a duplicate of bug 259786 !
I my case, killing Networkmanager did not help.
I think the two issues are distinct, even if they have similar
consequences.
