But I don't have this issue now for a long time. Can somebody tell me what
actually causes this problem. I mean, does this happen after browsing some

I confirm this. I have Intrepid with the latest official Firefox and

F11 helps, but editing or deleting localstore.rdf didn't change
anything. I did found those lines with sizemode="maximized" etc.

I can confirm for Intrepid on a MacBook Pro (3.1 Santa Rosa). The F11

looks like it should: sizemode="normal".

Can confirm this for Intrepid too.
I noticed that deleting the file localstore.rdf in the .mozilla directory fixed
it. For a while, then it came back.
Then I took a look at the file, and saw the lines that was responsible for it.
I deleted those lines, and till now I didn't had any problems.

Seems it happened the first time when I maximized firefox window, then closed

After that, unmaximize didn't work properly, and maximizing again would give
the same windowless result.

F11 twice works here too. Has to be when visual effects are switched on.

I was one of the earlier reporters of this bug (on 2008-08-25), but the
problem has completely disappeared for me in the meantime. I didn't do
anything special, just kept up with the usual updates (still on Hardy,
32 bit). Firefox hasn't lost its window decoration in quite a while.

Same issue for me on Intrepid + Firefox 3.0.3. It's not just a problem

I have the same issue on Intrepid, using standard configuration. F11
solution works. Just opening a new firefox window does not work, the new
window has no window decoration either. The issue appeared after an
update, which I *think* contained among others compiz and x11.

I have the same issue on Hardy 32 bit with all updates: Firefox's window
