I had the exact same problem with missing iwlwifi-3945-1.ucode in
Intrepid 2.6.27-4 ... 7. Elsewhere it was recommended to install the
package linux-restricted-modules-common, but I only got a message that
this package was already installed. I ended up copying it from a 2.6.22
directory, and now my

I can also confirm that the ucode's for 3945, 4965 and 5000 cards are there.
they also present in linux-restricted-modules-common 2.6.27-2.2
so all is ok :)

i can confirm that a fresh install of Intrepid alpha 2 with all the updates as
of 2008-07-18 still have the same problem.
this is the full version of kernel:

It seems that the firmware is simply missing from installation.
