Dear Adarabito, yes, your system should be more than powerful enough to run
Ubuntu.
Some questions:
1) Which Ubuntu version do you have installed?
2) The behaviour you're describing is very strange (memory hogging, crashing of
applications, muting of sound)... Can you try to find a pattern in thi
try turning off desktop effects
