The Ubuntu Kernel Team is planning to move to the 2.6.27 kernel for the
upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release. As a result, the kernel team would
appreciate it if you could please test this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel.
There are one of two ways you should be able to test:
1) If you are comfortable
This worked for me too. Can anybody tell be if the released version of
Ubuntu_8_04 will be updated so the I don't have to use a version from
the daily-live directory. This makes me nervous.

I had exactly the same problem, and resolved it by downloading a more up
to date version of Hardy from http://cdimages.ubuntu.com/hardy/daily-
live/current/ which seems to work perfectly out of the box. (The
20080620.1 build worked for me.)
