Hello,
I still have this problem. I deleted everything firefox after removing
everything firefox from synaptic. (ie I used find . -name firefox then
rm on any firefox directory)and reinstalled firefox3.0 and It still
doesn't show the location bar.
I'm using en_GB. When using

On a further note I realised that the en-US version was installed and
not the en-GB. I had to manually follow this guide to install the
firefox-3.0 en-GB.xpi languge pack.

I have managed to fix this issue myself although exactly what was wrong
I can only speculate...
A while ago i manually installed one of the betas for firefox 3 (before
upgrading to Hardy) I installed this alongside firefox 2 so I could run
both versions. Then upon upgrading to Hardy the Firefox 3
Installed the new firefox and xulrunner packages from the ubuntu repos
this morning. The issue still remains.
This is very strange, as others running the same version of ubuntu have
no problems with this. Seems like a config issue, but where?

tarball of /etc/firefox-3.0/ is attached.
Note that if I blow away /etc/firefox-3.0/ and start firefox, the
problem still persists.

got some updates later, but they didn't fix the problem. I tried using
