This is still an issue in Ubuntu 12.04. It has been about four years
since this worked properly.
Thanks for any help!

I've tried this with Jaunty live, and besides the fact that yet again
the ALSA configuration and restart has changed in new and exciting ways,
it still doesn't seem to work quite right.
Now, with Januty, we've got /etc/init.d/alsa-utils, which is supposed to
start and stop the cards (but doesn't p
This fails also with other soundcards on Intrepid. It seems like it
doesn't unload the modules correctly (well, at all), and then when the
modules are unloaded by hand, it won't reload them at all. _Then_ when
the modules are reloaded by hand, the driver doesn't seem to start

Hi Rob,
Would you be willing to test the most recent pre-release of Jaunty 9.04
(currently Alpha3) - http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/jaunty/ . It
contains a newer 2.6.28 based kernel. You should be able to test via a

I should add that when I mean it didn't work at all, I mean it came up

One difference from before (at least I believe it is different) is that

Sound is only affected on the Indigo IO. The on board sound seems to
work. If I unplug the card and plug it back in after sleep it operates
fine. I should mention that this is all using OSS, because ALSA didn't

The Ubuntu Kernel Team is planning to move to the 2.6.27 kernel for the

I find that if I just remove the Indigo IO card without stopping
anything and re-insert it, I can suspend while it is removed, and it
works when re-inserted. I would much prefer to be able to just leave
it in and set up the suspend scripts to take care of it though.
