Unfortunally the Ubuntu 8.x serie and 9.x serie are no longer supported
and no one has handled this in time(sorry!).
Instead closing such tickets without any further investigations, we
would like to see if it is still a actual issue.
Could you(someone) try to reproduce on a Ubuntu12.10 developer
I dont know if this is realy any help but I am experiensing very
similiar issue on arch linux, tough on blender 2.49
state of the freezes differ from "normal" 2-4sec to compleate system
freeze with having to actually reset the system by hand
I wish I could provide some logs but but cant figure ou
I can confirm this
- Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy
- nvidia-glx driver in use
- NVIDIA 8500 GT
- 2 GB RAM
- Intel Core 2 Duo processor
Come to think of it, almost identical to OP's setup, except I *am* using
compiz. Doesn't seem to be related.
IOddly I have the exact same unexplained freezing behavior
Same problem here at work .. renders speed seems ok, but each time I
move a node in a mesh my CPU hog for a second or two, which makes the
program very frustrating to use.
At home I have a very similar setup and it's very fast, nothing
comparable.
The setups:
@work
Athlon X2 64 4800, 4GB ram, nV
Ah, and I'm using the restricted nVidia drivers, and I haven't tried the
new blender-version (2.46, I will do, though).
