I dont know if this is realy any help but I am experiensing very
similiar issue on arch linux, tough on blender 2.49
state of the freezes differ from "normal" 2-4sec to compleate system
freeze with having to actually reset the system by hand
I wish I could provide some logs but but cant figure out where to look
for, blender atleast doesnt notice anything strange.
